Anker is the owner of Anker's, the inn where Kvothe lives and works while he studies in the University.
In The Chronicle[]
Anker hires Kvothe as house musician after Ambrose threatens him and all the other pubs not to hire the young musician. He trades Kvothe a small room in the inn and meals in exchange for his music four nights a span. This allows Kvothe to avoid living and eating in mews at The University. Though not as luxurious has Kvothe's first secured job as musician at the Horse and Four, he quickly feels more at home in Anker's Inn than he has since the massacre of his troupe by The Chandrian.
