"I don’t think anyone could have built a better snare for Ben if they had tried."
―Kvothe[1]

Hallowfell is a town where Abenthy settles down with an attractive, fairly wealthy, and fairly young widow. She had been a brewer's wife who was widowed after her late husband drowned two years before her meeting Ben.

Kvothe's troupe stopped at Hallowfell for a handful of days to tend to their wagons. It was during this time that the widow "needed someone to tutor her young son," although the primary reason of her and Ben's spending time together was because of their budding romance.

As a goodbye present to Kvothe, Ben gave him a copy of Rhetoric and Logic in which Ben wrote the following inscription: “Kvothe, Defend yourself well at the University. Make me proud. Remember your father’s song. Be wary of folly. Your friend, Abenthy.”
