Music is an important cultural aspect in Temerant. A variety of musical instruments are played as well as a multitude of songs. With the exception of Ademre, music is enjoyed by people in all nations and serves as a principal source of entertainment.
A variety of musical instruments are made and used in Temerant to play music.
- Lute: a string instrument with a neck and a deep round back. Its strings are running in a plane parallel to the sound table. There are different versions of lutes made throughout the history of Temerant, including the court lute and the troupers lute.
- Harp: a string instrument with a number of individual strings running at an angle to its soundboard. The strings are plucked with the fingers. Harps vary in terms of size: many smaller harps can be played in the lap, while larger harps are quite heavy and rest on the floor.
Songs have great significance in Temerant and are widely enjoyed. The most popular ones are folk songs: simple melodies that are easy to follow and appreciate.
