Music is an important cultural aspect in Temerant. A variety of musical instruments are played as well as a multitude of songs. With the exception of Ademre, music is enjoyed by people in all nations and serves as a principal source of entertainment.

Instruments Edit

A variety of musical instruments are made and used in Temerant to play music.

  • Lute: a string instrument with a neck and a deep round back. Its strings are running in a plane parallel to the sound table.[1] There are different versions of lutes made throughout the history of Temerant, including the court lute and the troupers lute.
  • Harp: a string instrument with a number of individual strings running at an angle to its soundboard. The strings are plucked with the fingers. Harps vary in terms of size: many smaller harps can be played in the lap, while larger harps are quite heavy and rest on the floor.[2]

Songs Edit

Songs have great significance in Temerant and are widely enjoyed. The most popular ones are folk songs: simple melodies that are easy to follow and appreciate.
