Renere is the capital of Vintas.

In The Wise Man's Fear, Renere is listed as having a royal palace, where the ruling family, Calanthis, lives with their royal court.

Maer Alveron is a nobleman only a few steps (by blood) from being the King of Vintas. The reigning sovereign is King Roderic[1]; nonetheless, the Maer holds monarchical powers almost as great the King's.[2]

In the royal court, "There's not a gentleman [who] would dare be seen without a sword"; the Maer Alveron believes this is a custom that will "bring the king to grief in time." The palace archives are enormous, and filled with books.

During The Wise Man's Fear, Bredon tells Kvothe that, "The Prince Regent Alaitis had been killed in a duel, sending much of the southern farrel into chaos as various nobility did their best to capitalize on the death of such a highly ranked member of the court."

Spoilers about Book Three

In a 2012 interview, Rothfuss confirmed that Kvothe would be visiting the capital in The Doors of Stone. In this same interview, Rothfuss called it "the three-part city."[3]

In December 2017, Patrick Rothfuss revealed that Renere is the "three-part city" due to the presence of three Prince Regents.[4]
